Procona
Cardboard inserter machines

Kartoninzetmachine

Many clients insert cardboard collars manually in the rim of the Procona container. Dedicated cardboard-inserter machines have been developed for large volume packing. These machines range from simple to highly advanced. The result is ‘speed without hassle’.

This machine (no feeder) with simple height adjustment works with – or can be made suitable for Valencia, Amsterdam, Florida and London containers. This pneumatic cardboard inserter-machine has been specially developed for Procona.

Step 1.   Place the Procona container with flowers on the working surface (table) of the cardboard- inserter machine. The table (working surface) is the centre of the cardboard inserter machine. Two hinged blocks are mounted on this table. When packing a 25 cm container the blocks can be tipped-up manually.

Step 2.   Place the container as near as possible to the centre of the table (working surface). The machine’s table or working surface is made of smooth plastic. The container is also made of plastic so that its underside slides well across the working surface. When the container is at the centre the arms of the cardboard-inserter machine will usually push the large container (30 x 40 cm) into place (otherwise the container will be a little crooked). This crooked effect may happen if the container is heavy or if the working surface is rough – because it hasn’t been properly cleaned. With this in mind we advise putting the container right in the centre - and keeping the working surface clean.

Step 3.   Put the cardboard or plastic collar on the open arms of the machine (photo 1). Make sure that the creasing scores of the cardboard are in line with the rims of the rear wall.

Step 4.   Using one hand, press the collar against the rear wall.

Step 5.   Press the foot-pedal lightly.

Step 6.   The rear wall comes forward and the arms of the cardboard-inserter machine fold the collar against the rim of the Procona container (photo 2).

Step 7.   Press the collar vertically in the rim of the Procona container.

Step 8.   Next, the right side of the collar is folded in the container. The short, left side is folded over this (photo 3).

Step 9.   Place the Procona lid on the Procona packaging unit.

Step 10. To open the machine, push on the foot pedal again - lightly. The arms and the rear of the machine fold outwards.

Step 11. Remove the packaging unit from the machine.

Step 12. The machine is now ready for the next cycle.

Simple cardboard-inserter with fixed arms

To be cost-effective, a pneumatic cardboard inserter machine must be used on a regular basis. For limited use we have developed cheaper, less complex cardboard inserters. These are made of steel or water-resistant multiplex and are suitable for the Valencia, Amsterdam, Florida or London containers. These cardboard-inserters come with optional mechanical height adjustment. Water dosing is also optional.

The container (with water) is placed on the working surface. The collar is folded against the rear wall and the side walls, in the rim of the container. The container is filled with flowers. Last of all the front flap and the side flap are folded around the flowers and placed in the rim.
