Collars are an important part of Procona packaging. Alongside the container the collar determines the height of the packaging. The packaging is stackable which imposes tough demands on the quality of the collar. Collars can be made of corrugated card or plastic (extruded Polypropylene).

Collar height can be selected based on the height of the container and the length of the flower stems.

Card(board)

Card collars are made of corrugated card. The strength of this material is determined by the type of paper used and height of the corrugation. The collars for London containers are always made of a C-quality corrugated card. This is a corrugated card with a height of 4 mm. It is one of the more rigid types of corrugated card. Only high quality papers are used.

All collars are standard printed with the height of the collar in centimetres and inches as well as the recycling symbol. Standard print on London collars is always in black. Corrugated card collars for London containers are for once-off use only.

Selecting the right collar height

In general there has to be a margin of several centimetres space above the heads of the flowers so that the heads are not damaged. Moreover, flowers grow during transportation. The margin used for London containers is 5 cm.

London collars standard quality

We recommend standard collars for London for short to medium distances up to 600 km for normal flowers overland. There are tougher requirements for sea transport.

We recommend these collars for distances over 600 km for normal flowers and generally for heavy and/or short flowers (daffodils, tulips, irises) and for transportation by sea.

London plastic collars

The plastic collars for London containers are made of extruded polypropylene. These collars are designed for situations where damp is a major factor. Plastic collars maintain their strength no matter the level of damp. Plastic collars can also be re-used (around 25 times). All plastic collars feature standard-printing with the height of the collar in centimetres and the recycling symbol.
 
Plastic collars have a mass of 600 grams per m², and are transparent in colour.
