Example 1 Gerona 10 on auction barrel, on trolleys
This packaging unit is ideal for transporting gerberas to clients in a 270-320 mile radius of the Netherlands. The use of auction trolleys and Dutch auction buckets is common here. Using auction trolleys means that packaging units do not have to be stackable, and the collar and lid can be left off. The Gerona interiors are used because they give maximum protection to the gerberas. A major advantage here is that removing the gerberas from the packaging units is fast and simple as well as damage free. In consultation with the client it is even possible to reuse various parts of the Gerona gerbera packaging (e.g. interiors and trays). The bags cannot be reused because there is no way of ensuring the quality of the gerbera. Gerona 12 or standard interior 19.6" 48 holes on corrugated cardboard box, on pallets.
Pallets with boxes are used to pack gerberas for a client based 900 miles away; 3000 large-headed gerberas fit on a pallet (60 packaging units each with 50 stems). In order to improve the quality of the gerbera you can select a Gerona suitable for single use. The basis will be a corrugated cardboard box. Interiors with the best load-factor will be ideal, i.e. a Gerona 12 or a standard 19.6" interior with 48 holes. This all depends on client preferences on the interior. As the packaging units are placed on pallets the packaging must be stackable - collars and lids make this possible. As the maximum stacking height of a pallet iis 88.5", 2 packaging units can be stacked. Sixteen packaging units fit per layer (on a 40" x 48" pallet), giving a total of 32 packaging units on a pallet. Every packaging unit contains 96 stems and a total of 3072 large-headed gerberas in water fit on a pallet. This ensures excellent product quality with no change in the load factor.
