How does PortoVase work?

This packing is suitable for a range of bouquets, from 25 to 35 stems, from 12"- 20" long. PortoVase is a plastic vase with a removable inner ring. Bouquets are held in place by grip fingers in the ring. The inner ring closes the vase like a anti-spill ridge. This prevents water leakage even when horizontal (on its side). The vase has a water-absorbing, spongy filling. Before the bouquet is placed into the vase, 17 fl.oz of water is added, which is enough for the transport and sales period.

5. Water-absorbing filling

Extensive research into the 'drinking behaviour' of bouquets shows that 17 fl.oz is enough for:

  • 2 days refrigerated (41 °F) transportation from supplier to retailer, plus
  • 4 days at 68 °F store temperature; the sales period

When the bouquet has blossomed you just take it out of the vase. It is easy to unscrew the inner ring. The water-filled spongy filling and the inner ring can be thrown away and the vase can be used again like any regular flower vase.
